Val Howard of Fargo was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2021 which has spread to lymph nodes, various organs, and her bones.  Chronic neuropathy has severely limited her mobility and she now uses a walker or wheelchair to aid with pain and lack of balance.  She also suffers from a mitral valve disorder.  Val lost her balance at home in November which resulted in a broken humerus bone requiring a plate and screws to repair, as well as placing a rod in her femur due to cancer invasion.  After a lengthy hospital stay, she requires PT/OT and is working on regaining strength. Val receives excellent care at Roger Maris Cancer Center, but hospital bills and other medical expenses have added to financial strain for her and husband Christopher, who are both retired.
