Tracy Winterquist Fundraiser
On February 3, 2021, Tracy was diagnosed with Covid-19. He toughed it out at home until February 13, when he was admitted to the hospital. He spent 10 days in the Covid unit at Sanford and then transferred to a regular ICU room. Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. He was sedated and intubated (ventilator) on February 27. A tracheostomy was done a few weeks later and he remained heavily sedated. He awoke just in time to catch up on some March Madness from his hospital bed, and was able to mouth words to try to communicate. None of us were very good at lip reading and so it was a blessing when he began talking at the end of March with a modified trach.
In early April, the trach was removed and Tracy moved to the rehab facility to start working on gaining his strength and endurance back. For an active guy like Tracy, this was very hard to be so weak and to lose so much weight. Tracy went home at the end of April and continues his physical and occupational therapy each week. There have been a couple of setbacks that landed him back in the hospital, but for short periods of time. Tracy is definitely on the mend, but it has been a hard journey so far. All financial and emotional support have been so appreciated by the family.
Please join us in raising help and hope for Tracy and his family. Cash/checks payable to “Tracy Winterquist Benefit Fund” may be sent to American Federal Bank, 215 5th St N, Fargo, ND 58102.
