Susan Selnes Fundraiser
In 2017 Susan “Suze” Axtman Selnes’s medical nightmare began when her body became septic and she developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) following routine surgery to treat a kidney stone. Due to the infection she was in the ICU for 18 days fighting to survive, and subsequently developed a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) when her brain was deprived of oxygen. Shortly after this time she moved to an apartment where she would endure being terrorized for two years by a neighbor who took advantage of Suze, both financially and emotionally. Afraid to leave her home, she missed many of her medical appointments and was ultimately hospitalized two more times with sepsis. The infection invaded her body, primarily her gum tissue, causing extensive dental issues. Susan has been unable to work for the last three years and her insurance does not cover the advanced treatment required to treat her brain injury, the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) caused by the domestic abuse she endured, nor the extensive dental restoration/surgery she now needs. The medical issues she has experienced have caused many financial hardships and stress. Caring friends have stepped forward to start this fundraiser to generate help and hope to restore Suze’s life, her health, and once beautiful smile. Susan has two sons and resides in Fargo.
When you donate here, Lend A Hand Up will boost your gift by 20%, making your generosity go farther. Cash/Check gifts are also appreciated and should be dropped by any Bell Bank location, made payable to the Susan Selnes Benefit Fund.
