Stacy Kleinwachter Fundraiser
In April 2024, Stacy was admitted to Essentia ER with severe jaundice, where she was told her liver and kidneys were failing. After undergoing a CT scan and MRI, her initial diagnosis was severe mono, and she began kidney dialysis three times a week. Further testing led to a second diagnosis of HLH, a rare blood disease that attacks the body’s organs. Stacy started chemotherapy to combat the disease and experienced side effects, including a body-wide rash. After two blood transfusions improved her kidney function, she was able to stop dialysis and was discharged. Weak and fatigued from both mono and HLH, Stacy required daily doctor visits or blood work through the end of May.
In June, Stacy’s health declined again, requiring more chemotherapy and the insertion of a port for easier treatment access. After her sixth chemo session, she developed a high fever and zero white blood cells, leading to an ER visit and hospital admission. After numerous tests and procedures, including the removal of a blood clot from her lung, she was discharged. Though her immune system is compromised, and she required extensive medications, Stacy’s health improved by August, allowing her to temporarily stop chemotherapy. Despite multiple hospital stays, Stacy remains focused on staying positive, embracing the power of prayer, and taking one day at a time.
Stacy is a Fargo resident and active member of the Dilworth Loco Lions, and also active in the District 5M11. These organizations are combining efforts to host a benefit in early November to support Stacy.
