In May of 2023 Mona was diagnosed with Breast Cancer – HER2 positive, malignant neoplasm of the breast – which unfortunately is an aggressive form. She had a lumpectomy on May 30^th to remove a 3.2cm mass, followed by her chemo port being placed on June 30^th, and her first round of Chemo, of her first session, began on July 7^th of 2023. Mona’s chemo treatments are currently scheduled to be repeated every 3 weeks. In November she will start radiation, and that will be followed by a second round of chemo, which will continue through June of 2024.

The treatment plans are just as aggressive as the nature of the cancer itself. Mona is facing many challenges physically, mentally, emotionally, as well as financially, in the coming months and thereafter.

At this time, Mona is unable to work, as she is using every bit of her strength to battle the beast that cancer is. She fortunately had a ‘short term disability’ insurance policy, but her frame of coverage is due to expire in the coming days.
