During the gender reveal ultrasound it was discovered that Baby Kurtz has DORV (Double Outlet Right Ventricle), a condition where both the aorta and pulmonary artery pump blood in and out through only the right side of the heart. Through a recent echocardiogram more discoveries were revealed. Baby Kurtz has a hypoplastic mitral valve (essentially missing) and leaky tricuspid valve.  Parents Riley and Olivia now must make major life decisions to give their son the best possible care required.  Olivia is expected to give induced birth in Minneapolis.  Surgery on the baby’s heart will occur shortly after birth and Olivia will relocate from Fargo to Minneapolis for a month following birth while baby’s vitals and recovery are being closely monitored.  Pediatric experts state that another open-heart surgery will be required around the age of 3, and it is common a heart transplant will be needed later in his life.

With this current situation, Riley and Olivia have been rushed into making major life changes (job occupations for better insurance, postponing getting our first home together, and putting college on hold) for the well-being and priority of their son.  All money raised will go directly to the Kurtz family and your online donation will be increased 20%.  Cash/Check gifts should be gifted directly to Riley and Olivia.
