Kolby Hunsicker Fundraiser
High school senior Kolby was riding his motorcycle to his sister’s house to let her dog out, when he was t-boned by an SUV. Thankfully, he was wearing his helmet, however it was unable to protect his leg from the impact. The force of the impact caused him to be thrown from the northbound lanes to the southbound lanes on 45th street. Kolby was awake during the incident, feeling and seeing it happen. Shortly after arriving to the ER, he underwent surgery for a Below the Knee Amputation of his right leg.
Prior to the accident, Kolby was living his best life as a 17-year-old high school senior. He was spending time with his friends and family, riding motorcycle, and working at Sanford exploring career options in the medical field. Kolby’s focus has had to change to focusing on giving himself injections, changing dressings, managing pain, learning to live with phantom pain, shrinking/maturing his stump to accept a prosthetic, learning how to drive again, and much more that is still unknown. Given all of this, Kolby has a positive attitude about his injury, and has great support from family and friends.
Kolby’s family is experiencing financial hardship due to medical bills and taking time off work to care for him as he heals and learns to live as an amputee. Your gift will be boosted 20% when you give online, and 100% of your donation will go towards Kolby’s family. Cash/checks may be gifted directly to the family.

I met Kolby for the first time at the benefit. I work with his amazing mom. Kolby is a breath of fresh air. He was more concerned for me and his mom than for himself. This young man will go far in life. He has accepted this tragic accident as an opportunity to open new doors for his future. May God bless Kolby and his entire family.

Reading this article saddens my heart and makes me to think about what others are going through right now.
About two months ago while playing soccer, I broke my leg and messed up my knee as well. I thought my pain was worse until I came across this article. Young Kolby, I can imagine how much pain you are feeling right now!!!
May the almighty God bless you and your family as you go through this new journey of life.
I pray that justice be served to keep people like this guy out of the streets for the safety of others.
I would like to make a little contribution if I can know where to drop donations and gifts. -
