Kody has dealt with chronic Pectus Excavatum his entire 23 years of life, a condition in which the breastbone sinks into the chest, which can cause pain in the chest, fatigue, and inability to partake in strenuous activities/sports. He has had surgery to correct the Pecuts Excavatum which had appeared to help. However, most recently, he has been dealing with pneumothorax (collapsing of the lung), first in his left lung and not even a week later, his right lung. He spent several weeks in the hospital and will likely be out of work for quite some time while he recovers as they try to resolve the pneumothorax and figure out an underlying cause. Kody is known by his friends and family to help anyone in any way he can, whether he has the means to or not.

Kody participated in sports until he had to quit in high school due to chest pain and shortness of breath. He has been having a difficult time with not being able to work and not knowing when he can return. He is thankful to have his mom through this hard time, however with the loss of income and bills piling up, it has created a financial strain on Kody.
