Jay Bruns Fundraiser
Jay began experiencing severe headaches, prompting several visits to the clinic before an ER trip led to an MRI, revealing a tumor on the left side of his brain. On July 16th, most of the tumor was successfully removed, but the surgery left Jay unable to use his right arm and leg, and he lost the ability to walk. He spent 10 days in the ICU and then three weeks in intensive inpatient therapy, working hard on physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
Although Jay has made progress and is now home, continuing outpatient therapy to regain mobility and improve speech and cognitive functions, he faces a long road ahead. He has started targeted chemo pills to prevent the tumor from growing back, as another surgery would be too traumatic for his body.
Having just graduated from North Hight School in June 2024, Jay had planned to attend Wyotech in Wyoming, but his education and plans for his future are currently on hold due to his physical and cognitive challenges. A once active young man, Jay is now unable to participate in the sports and activities he once loved, which has been incredibly difficult for him. He is also unable to work while he continues to focus on his recovery.
When you give online to this fundraiser, your gift goes directly to the family, and Lend A Hand Up provides a 20% financial boost to increase your giving value. The Lend A Hand Up boost applies solely to online gifts processed through this giving site. Should you wish to make a gift by cash or check, your generosity should be directed to the family or their fund at Bell Bank, as Lend A Hand Up does not process cash or check gifts for families.

I worked along side with Jay at Qest Fargo Menards. He was so attentive with guests and very helpful. His mom and dad should be very proud of him. My prayers are with him as he goes through his journey of healing.
