What started as a nagging low grade fever, quickly turned into a long twenty-four hours of blood tests, ultrasounds, a bone marrow biopsy and a diagnosis of Pediatric T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for 13-year-old, Jaxson Thomsen.  The next twenty-four hours didn’t slow down.  Jaxson had surgery to have a port placed, a lumbar puncture and his first round of chemotherapy.  A parent’s worst nightmare…the Thomsen family was told their child has cancer.

Jaxson, also known as Bug, is the youngest of 4 siblings.  He loves to hang out with his buddies, play x-box and especially loves to play hockey!  His family is nothing short of amazing!  His parents, Jim and Heather, and 3 sisters, Aspyn, Peightan and Regyn are an extremely tight knit, supportive and loving family.  They are a family that would help anyone in need without question or hesitation.  The Thomsen family is also a foster family who helps other children in their time of need… and now, it is our turn to help them!

The road ahead for Jaxson and his family is going to be long and challenging.  Currently, his treatment plan is estimated to be over the next three years.

Please consider giving generously to this family via this online benefit!  Lend A Hand Up will boost online gifts by 20% up to $5000!  Checks may also be made to the Jaxson Thomsen Benefit Fund at Gate City Bank, 837 31st Ave E, West Fargo, ND 58078.  For more information, contact Nikki Eckman at 701-238-7669 or Casey Schmidt at 701-739-1746.

Jaxson is the most positive athlete I’ve ever witnessed in any sport he participates in. Hockey, Baseball, you name it.

What an incredible kid that will win in every aspect of life that gives challenge. Supports his teammates, shows true grit. Unbelievable how hard Jax will touch everyone he comes in contact with. True warrior!
