On December 21, 2021, Emma Melby was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma after battling some swelling in her jaw. So began a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments and the start of chemotherapy. Emma has not been able to return to her 7th-grade year. Much of her days are now spent at home or at the hospital. Emma’s treatment plan will span over two years time.  Despite knowing she still has a long road ahead, she remains positive and strong. She continues to set goals and find things to look forward to.  She enjoys planning for the cat she would like to have one day, painting, building with legos, binge-watching her favorite shows, cooking with mom, and a board game here and there.
