Easton was admitted to the hospital on May 9th after a CT scan revealed a large mass in his abdomen. A biopsy was conducted, followed by additional CT and PET scans to check for metastasis. Thankfully, the rest of his body was clear. The biopsy indicated that Easton has an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, a very rare form of cancer. Typically, the standard treatment for this type of tumor involves surgical removal. However, due to the tumor’s size, surgery might pose too great a risk for Easton. There is a medication available that could potentially shrink the tumor, but it also comes with its own set of risks. Further discussions with doctors at Roger Maris Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic will be held to figure out the next steps.
