Chuck Sornsin Fundraiser
On October 2, 2021, Chuck Sornsin received the call he and his family had been waiting for for over 10 years. He was finally receiving a heart after being diagnosed with end stage heart failure. After his transplant Chuck spent 19 days in the ICU and PCU units of the Mayo’s St. Mary’s Hospital. After his discharge from the hospital, Chuck spent an additional three months living in temporary housing in Rochester to be close enough to the Mayo Clinic for his daily appointments. Chuck returned home to Fargo at the end of December, just in time to celebrate his grandson’s First Christmas.
Chuck now faces a lifetime of medications, medical supplies and return trips to Rochester for numerous appointments. All of this comes with large out of pocket costs and medical bills. To help cover some of these costs, Chuck’s friends and family are putting together a benefit on April 9th. April was chosen for the benefit as it is also donor awareness month. Chuck is forever grateful to his donor, and wants to bring awareness of organ donation to others.
Lend A Hand Up generously provides a 20% boost to online donations up to $5000!
