In September 2018, Demers was diagnosed with Grade 4 astrocytoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a malignant primary brain tumor that has a five-year survival rate of less than 7%. After four and a half years of routine checkups, the cancer began spreading again in 2023. Since then, Chad has undergone another pair of surgeries & exhausted several different treatment options but is now under hospice care where he is able to try a new medication that was FDA-approved for brain tumors on August 6th. However, regardless of the circumstances, throughout his diagnosis Chad has never wavered in prioritizing the things that truly mean the most to him; his family & the game he loves. Throughout his career for the Fargo Force as both a player and a coach Demers was a catalyst for success with 4 Western Conference Championships, 4 Clark Cup Finals appearances, and an Anderson Cup Championship title.
Chad and Danika’s family is deeply rooted in love and togetherness, embodying the spirit of a close-knit sports family. They share a passion for hockey, baseball, gymnastics, and various other sports, instilling values of teamwork and dedication in their children. Faith plays a vital role in their lives, providing strength and support during challenging times. Many cherished memories have been made with their grandparents at the lake and playing in the yard in Oakwood. Their family also loves traveling to and attending sporting events together. This vibrant, family-oriented atmosphere highlights their unwavering commitment to one another, creating bonds that will last a lifetime. Please join us in supporting Chad and his devoted wife Danika, who has never left his side, as they navigate this unimaginable and challenging time. With their three beautiful children—Beau, Thea, and Ella—they exemplify love and resilience. Your contributions will help ease their burdens and provide the support they need to focus on what truly matters: their family’s well-being. Let’s come together to uplift them during this crucial moment in their lives and show them they are not alone in this journey. 💙
