Brian…aka The Big Hawaiian…aka Scoop…aka the biggest Washington Huskies fan that ever lived, and his family need our help.

In December 2022 Brian’s sight started playing tricks on him. He knew it may be something to look into when he couldn’t quite do his beloved financial bookwork. After a few tests they ordered him to have an MRI which diagnosed him with a brain tumor. We all know the Grinch’s heart grew 3 sizes, but none of us knew Brian’s head could get any bigger. So of course, we needed to change that. December 27th 2022 Brian had a successful brain surgery, his first surgery in his 57 years of life! It went so well he was home only 2 days later which is great because the ants in his pants had transferred to his hospital bed and he wanted to fly the coop.  January 2023 pathology results confirmed that Brian’s brain cancer is Grade 4 Glioblastoma. Shortly, he will start undergoing radiation and chemotherapy in Fargo.

The Big Hawaiian has never let anything stand in his way in life. One of the hardest working men you’ll ever meet, he graduated 38 out of his class of 50 yet retired first at the age of 52. But, we all knew this man couldn’t sit still so he kept working. He kept working by holding 2 different Superintendent roles consecutively, a seat on the Fargo Public Schools Board, teaching drivers ed, oh and making sure to spend as much time as possible with his wife, 10 kids and 12 grandkids at their lake home on Lake Lida!  Brian faces a battle he’s built for. Though given a limited prognosis, he’ll never accept that. He can use prayers, love, support for his family, and financial gifts to ease the burden of the medical expenses.  To know him is to love him. He’s always taken care of everyone around him, and now it’s our turn to return the favor.
