Ashlee and Tanner of West Fargo are expecting twins, but unfortunately, Twin B, Lyla, has been diagnosed with tricuspid atresia and pulmonary atresia with ventral septal defect and transposed great arteries, indicating serious heart complications. This requires delivery at Childrenā€™s Hospital in Minneapolis, prompting the couple to relocate around 32 weeks of pregnancy. The baby will need medication to aid lung development and undergo a series of three open-heart surgeriesā€”one shortly after birth, another at three months, and a third at two to three years old. Post-surgery, the baby will spend a minimum of four weeks in the NICU, with a possibility of staying until the next surgery at three months. Twin A is also likely to have a ventral septal defect, but it is expected to close on its own. Ashlee and Tanner anticipate multiple trips to Minneapolis before delivery, facing significant emotional and logistical challenges during this difficult time.

Your online gift will be boosted by 20%, with 100% of your gift going directly to the family. Cash/checks may be gifted directly to Ashlee and Tanner.

My heart goes out to you. We had two NICU babies. One was born at 26 weeks in Bismarck. The other was born at 27 weeks at the U of M in Minneapolis. We live in Carrington so the drive was long. 27. Weaker was in the hospital in Minneapolis for six months. both of them had heart surgery -Not for a congenital defect, however. God bless you and just know that miracles happen every single day. Our 26 weeker currently 25 years old and is a registered nurse. Our 27 weeker is 18 years old and a junior in high school.

I was among the first kids to have pioneering open-heart surgery at the Minneapolis hospital in the 1960s. I just celebrated my 62nd birthday. Miracles happen every day. I am believing in miracles for you and your little ones.
