Anthony Skavlem Fundraiser
After the birth of their son on January 1, 2022, Tony became a full-time caretaker. However, by mid-2023, Tony’s rare disease symptoms started a slow shut-down of his body. The disease is called Hereditary Amy-loid-osis (hATTR for short).
The disease is escalating quicker than expected and needs specialized treatment. Without it, hATTR at this stage is fatal within 3-5 years, so time is a major factor. Facing the necessity of covering medical expenses and travel costs from their home in Kindred to the Mayo Clinic, five hours away, Tony and his family are seeking fundraising support to bridge financial gaps and ensure access to life-saving treatments, maintaining hope for advancements despite the condition’s lack of cure. Tony and his family are facing increasing medical and travel expenses.
When you give online to this fundraiser, your gift goes directly to the family, and Lend A Hand Up provides a 20% financial boost to increase your giving value. The Lend A Hand Up boost applies solely to online gifts processed through this giving site. Should you wish to make a gift by cash or check, your generosity should be directed to the family or their fund at Gate City Bank, as Lend A Hand Up does not process cash or check gifts for families.
