Amy is a wife to her high school sweetheart, Toby. She is also a mother to two boys, Parker and Mason. Her family is the most important thing to her. She loves spending time with her family at the lake in the summer. They love fishing, baseball, cooking, their 3 cats, and overall spending time together. Amy also loves helping people. She is the most caring and thoughtful person I know. She has the biggest heart.  She is someone that is always there for everyone else, and now it’s our turn to support and encourage her and her family. Amy was first diagnosed with High grade Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) in her lower leg July 29th, 2022. She underwent 25 rounds of radiation from mid-August to mid-September 2022 followed by surgery Nov 3rd to remove the tumor. She had another surgery on November 14th to do a skin graft over the leg wound. March 3rd, she had her first set of follow up scans which presented a new and aggressive tumor deeper in her leg.  Since we don’t have the plastic surgery options needed in Fargo, she was referred to Mayo in Rochester. Once in Rochester, they realized that the tumor was much more aggressive than the first and needed her to start radiation just a few days later.  March 29th, she started her first of 25 rounds of radiation.  She will then be undergoing an extensive surgery June 7th where the Dr hopes to save her leg so amputation isn’t necessary. Once recovered and back home, she will have 4 intense rounds of chemotherapy. She is currently staying in a hotel in Rochester throughout treatment and returning home until she needs to come back for surgery.  Amy would like everyone to take any unknown bumps seriously!  Request an ultrasound to get them checked out.  Hers was thought to be a lipoma for almost a year before she was diagnosed with MFS.

Lend A Hand Up will boost your online donation 20% to make your generosity go further – all proceeds go to Toby and Amy.  Cash/Check donations must be made payable and gifted directly to the Roehrich’s.

Her and Toby will leave Sunday, June 4th as her appointments will start bright and early on the 5th. On the 5th - She will have a leg MRI to see if radiation did its job. This will help the Dr's determine the best approach for her leg. She will also undergo a CT angio/pelvis to ensure that the cancer hasn't spread. On June 6th, she will have blood work, ECG and meet with her team of Dr's to discuss the results of her scans and what surgery will all entail. Surgery will be on June 7th and what she has been told thus far is that she will be inpatient for a minimum of 7 nights. We are not sure if she will get to return to Fargo right after her surgery or if she will need to remain in Rochester for a bit after she is discharged. They have booked their hotel for an extra week just in case. Once healed from surgery, chemo will begin (in Fargo woohoo!) but we don’t have any further information on this part at this time. Once home, we will get dates added to the meal train as most of Toby and the boys time will be spent caring for Amy. Please be sure to sign up for the Lend a Hand bingo on July 17th! https://lendahandup.org/give/music-bingo-registration/ Most importantly, we would LOVE it if you could all leave her some thoughts and prayers right here on her lend a hand page.";}
